Berlin is one of the top ten private aviation markets in Europe with more than 20,000 annual business jet movements. The development will comprise a 1,500 m². private jet terminal, office buildings, flight support and conference center and associated ground works and infrastructure. With up to 20 additional parking lots for private jets with associated technical requirements, the FBO will offer maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities, comprehensive ground support and amenities for seamless operation.

Commenting on today’s news, Peter Sølbeck, major shareholder and managing director of Airport Development A/S, said: “Jetex’s involvement is an equally important step in the development of our airport. Since 2007, as a Danish company, we have been trying to reuse this former GDR government airport for civilian purposes. The conditions are excellent. The satellite approach and departure request process is in full swing. We have very strong political backing and very positive support from our regional community, including local residents and business owners in and around Neuhardenberg, who fully support our project. With Jetex, the German capital region can successfully maintain and expand its place as an economic, cultural and recreational region in an internationally competitive market. The conditions for business aviation in the Berlin area will improve dramatically and be raised to a new sustainable level. With the open space photovoltaic power plant that we created as project developers in 2012, which is still one of the largest in Europe, aviation will find here in eastern Brandenburg ideal conditions for the upcoming change in aviation mobility strategy which is increasingly turning towards electrification. Together with our partner Jetex, we will master the next steps for the necessary approvals and find our place in the overall development of the aviation in the capital region of Germany.

Commenting on the announcement, Adel Mardini, Founder and CEO of Jetex, said: “Jetex is committed to providing our customers with the highest levels of service and a seamless experience. A major factor in our success is the ability to grow our FBO network into major international gateways with significant private aviation demand. As the capital of Germany and a major commercial and cultural center, Berlin is a destination in which we aspire to be present. Neuhardenberg is an excellent airport for our first FBO in Germany which provides the space to develop a world-class private jet terminal and FBO operation. Today, more than ever, we are focused on sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint. Jetex offers a number of environmental solutions and the development of the world’s first fully green FBO, which will also include the latest innovations in eco-design, is an important step. I would like to thank the owners of Neuhardenberg Airport and their sales team for their support to date and we look forward to working closely together in the new joint venture.

For Berlin Neuhardenberg Airport, Chairman of the Board and Co-Owner Dieter Vornhagen said: “We have long identified Jetex as the ideal partner for the development of our FBO. It is a company that is gaining a presence in the global FBO industry and is renowned for providing the global business aviation community with standards of service and excellence that far exceed many others in the sector. Our joint venture, when developed, will see the creation of over 50 jobs in Neuhardenberg and will provide operators and business jet owners with not only a world-class FBO for Berlin, but also flagship development within the Jetex’s global FBO network. We now look forward to embarking on terminal design concepts and engaging with partners and stakeholders to help advance the project to an operational phase and create a unique and sustainable business aviation airport. in environmental terms for the East Berlin market in Germany.
