Let’s drop this ‘borrowing and heartbreaking’ APC, Atiku urges in Democracy Day message

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (APC) has called on Nigerians to vote against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) party due to the country’s rising debt profile.

Atiku made this known via a statement released in commemoration of Democracy Day, Sunday, June 12.

The PDP presidential candidate is expected to battle with APC’s Bola Tinubu in the 2023 elections.

Therefore, he warned citizens against the litany of challenges plaguing the country due to mismanagement by the ruling party.

Atiku said, “Let’s put the numbers together and the pledge to evict APC – the borrowing and bereaved party. Let us remember that Nigeria’s current debt burden stands at over N41 trillion with less than $40 billion in reserve.

“It is visible that the Buhari administration has brought our community the worst form of government, where insecurity, disunity, inequality, lack of job opportunities, diminished economic prosperity and the hyperinflation stares us all in the face.

“Therefore, we should by next year dismiss an incompetent, unpopular, callous and ignorant APC government.

“A ruling party that offers crude opportunism and cronyism will never be able to uplift or uplift a diverse and secular country like ours.

“The APC which has failed to offer honesty to Nigerians on their promised manifestos on security, economic growth and anti-corruption; should not be honored with another useless warrant of plunder, robbery and carnage!

“This is the season to prove to dishonest APC politicians that power really belongs to the people through the use of ballot papers.

“A government that impoverishes us divides us along our fault lines, makes us insecure, makes us hungry, deprives us of public amenities like electricity and fuel, and perpetually closes the doors of universities against our undergraduates. , through no fault of the students and causing untold grief to their parents and sponsors; such a party should never be allowed to hold esteemed positions in government at any level in our country.

Atiku further invoked the memories of past heroes regarding their struggle to entrench democracy in the country, calling on Nigerians to fix the country by voting against the APC.

“At this point, the most fitting tribute we can actually pay to our past heroes, those who fought to enthrone and maintain democracy in Nigeria, is to drive out the APC; a corrupt government that has been given a valuable mandate, but is unprepared for what needs to be done. They wasted a precious political opportunity, dashing the hopes of a confident majority of the electorate. Not yet, we should all claim it. Say no to the fate of bad governance; say yes to the prospect of a better Nigeria in 2023.

“Let’s work together to fix our country and bring back the boom of days gone by. Expel the APC,” the statement read.
